Tendonitis
A tendon is the tissue at the end of a muscle that attaches the muscle to the bone. If it is traumatized or over used it can be come inflamed and painful. It will hurt when you initiate movement of a joint.
The key to successful rehabilitation is to not only treat the inflamed tendon but remove the offending cause of the overuse. Sometimes that means a modification of behavior or splinting. Non-steroidal medications and injections can also be helpful.
Ice, however, remains the mainstay of tendonitis treatment. sometime the simplest and least expensive treatments are still the best.
