Why should you suffer with a chronic pain syndrome? It is only recently that physicians have come to recognize the importance of treating chronic pain like any other medical condition. If we have the tools and medication available to improve your functional level and reduce your pain, then we should use them.
Over the last decade, many pain centers have opened and closed. The reason is they have traditionally been run by specialists with one orientation. Some use only medication. Others use only injections.
Our Customized Solution
We have found that you must gang up on the problem. Our center uses all of the above, medication, injections, physical therapy, massage therapy, and/or the proper exercise therapy to reduce the cause of your specific pain. That is critical as well. You are an individual. You have a specific cause of your pain. We diagnose and design the program for your particular problems.
There are a lot of medications available to help. Many doctors try one kind, and if it dose not work well, they give you more. Patients wind up on large doses of narcotics, sleep medications, muscle relaxants, tricyclic anti-depressants etc. I have found that what works best is a small amount of each kind of medication. That means therapeutic but safe doses of muscle relaxant, anti-inflammation medication and narcotic works better than a lot of any one.
Another common problem is that patients are given short term narcotics for an all day problem. Percocet and/or Vicodin for example only last a few hours so you need 6-8 doses a day or you have pain. Instead, those patients should be on a time released narcotic. That way you have a little narcotic in your system all day long.
We can help you manage your medical problems in a more efficient and effective manor. There are lots of ways to improve. I cannot cure you but I know I can help reduce your discomfort and improve your function.
