Pinched Nerves
A pinched nerve is a layman’s term for an injured nerve. Each nerve has many different fibers in them. Some control pain, others strength or sensation, hot or cold, vibration etc. When a nerve is injured it may affect any or all of these fibers.
Nerve pain is specific type of pain often called neuralgia. Certain injuries result in neuralgic pain and there are now specific medication for neuralgia including Gabapenton.
Similarly, there are specific rehabilitation techniques including desensitization, fluidotherapy, and friction massage.
If multiple nerves are involved it is called a neuropathy. This type of nerve injury usually involves a systemic disease such as diabetes, lupus or HIV. In this case adoptive equipment is very important. Foot pain in neuropathy is often disabling. But the proper use of an orthotic can dramatically improve your ability to walk.
